Hangjia Hunan Paidushan Project

The Hangjia Hunan Paiping Lake Pond Extension, Dredging and Dushan Drainage Project is one of the planned projects to improve the drainage capacity of southbound the Taihu Lake Bay recommended in the Opinions on Strengthening Flood Control Construction in the the Taihu Lake Lake Basin 2001-2010 approved by the State Council. At the same time, this project is a recent construction project of the Flood Control Plan for the Hangjia Lake Region approved by the provincial government, and has been included in the Flood Control Plan for the Taihu Lake Basin approved by the Ministry of Water Resources. The construction of the project will play an important role in flood control of the river basin, the Hangzhou Jiahu area, and cities such as Jiaxing and Pinghu; At the same time, it can also improve comprehensive benefits such as shipping conditions and river network water environment.

The Hangjia Hunan Pinghu Pond Extension and Dredging Dushan Flood Control Emergency Project is a pioneering project of the Hangjia Hunan Dushan Flood Control Project, with a project grade of I, located in Huanggu Town, Pinghu, Jiaxing. It consists of Dushan Flood Control Sluice, Dushan Ganhe (Guocun to Dushan section), Yangqiao Navigation Control Sluice, Huanggutang Navigation Control Sluice, and other control sluices. According to the approval of the preliminary design report of the project, the Dushan Flood Control Sluice is designed according to the 100 year return period standard, verified with a 200 year return period, with a net width of 40m (5 holes x 8m), a gate bottom plate elevation of -2.8m, and a total drainage volume of 298 million cubic meters; The newly opened emergency section of Dushan Ganhe is 2.9km long, with a river surface width of 89.4m and a bottom width of 48m. The river bottom elevation is -3.80m, the embankment top elevation is 3.20m, and the embankment top width is 5m. The total construction period is 36 months, with a total investment of 386 million yuan.

After the completion of the project, the direct beneficiaries will be the southern area of Jiaxing City, including Xiuzhou District, Nanhu District, and Pinghu City, with a protected population of 3.3 million and a protected cultivated land area of 3.1 million acres. The indirect protection area covers the eastern plain of Hangjia Lake, with a total area of 7446 square kilometers and a beneficiary area of 860 square kilometers.
